Grain Highlights 28.06.2022

In the German state of Saxony, farmers have started the harvesting campaign of winter barley. The expected yields vary greatly from 3 tons/hectare to 8 tons/hectare.

- Over the week of June 20-26, 201,800 tons of grain were exported from the Russian port of Novorossiysk (+52% compared to the previous week). Grain exports comprised solely of wheat. The largest customers were Iran with 62,500 tons, Syria with 56,000 tons, Pakistan with 54,800 tons and Turkey with 28,500 tons.

- In the German state of Saxony, farmers have started the harvesting campaign of winter barley. The expected yields vary greatly from 3 tons/hectare to 8 tons/hectare. It is expected that the winter wheat yields will be low - 6.1 tons/hectare. In 2018, yields were even lower - 5.94 tons/hectare.

- As of 20.06.2022, 2% of the wheat areas and 5% of the durum wheat areas have been harvested in France. Harvesting campaign began earlier than usual. 64% of winter wheat crops are in good and excellent condition (65% a week earlier and 79% a year earlier).

- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net buyers of 90,000 soybean contracts and net sellers of 17,000 corn contracts and 6,500 wheat contracts.

- As of June 26, 2022, 67% of the corn crops (-3% compared to the previous week and +5% compared to last year) and 59% of spring wheat crops (59% compared to last week) were in good and excellent condition in the United States. The harvesting campaign of winter wheat was carried out on 41% of the areas. Soybeans have been sown on 98% of the planned areas.

- According to Conab data, as of 25.06.2022, 20% of the areas with second corn crop have been harvested in Brazil (+9% for the week and 10% a year earlier).

- Bangladesh has announced a tender for the purchase of 50,000 tons of wheat of any origin.
