In 2024, Russia's oilseed production reached 28.6 million tons, 1 million tons below the record levels of 2023. Sunseed production accounted for 55%, soybean production for 25%, and rapeseed production for 16%. The grain production totaled 125 million tons, falling short of the 2022 and 2023 levels but matching the 2021 figures.
According to a CCI estimate, Russia's grain production in 2025 is projected to reach 134.2 million tons (+7.7% compared to 2024). Wheat production is expected to hit 85.7 million tons (84.7 million in 2024). These increases are attributed to recent rainfall and relatively mild temperatures.
From July to November, Russia's wheat exports totaled 25.3 million tons, with total grain exports at 30.1 million tons. Wheat exports set a new national record (+1.7 million tons compared to the previous year). Barley exports were 3.3 million tons (-1.4 million), while corn exports reached 1.4 million tons (-1 million).
Last week, 308,100 tons of wheat were exported from Russia's Novorossiysk port (431,700 tons the previous week), including 83,400 tons to Yemen and 64,900 tons to Kenya.
Between July 1 and December 2, 2024, Ukraine exported 18.38 million tons of grain (13.402 million a year earlier), including 5,000 tons so far in December (305,000 tons last year). Wheat exports totaled 8.994 million tons (5.925 million), barley exports were 1.863 million tons (0.876 million), and corn exports reached 7.214 million tons (6.467 million).
The IGC forecasts global rapeseed cultivation to reach 44.1 million hectares in 2025/26 (+1.4% compared to 2024/25). The EU's area is expected to grow to 6 million hectares (+4%). India will see a decrease to 3.12 million hectares (-7.2%). The U.S. is projected to experience an 8.3% increase, while forecasts for Canada and Australia are unavailable due to the long-term nature of planting schedules.
Starting January 1, 2025, Indonesia will switch to B40 biodiesel from the current B35, increasing demand for palm oil by 1.5–1.7 million tons.
As of November 29, 2024, India’s wheat sowing reached 20 million hectares (+6.6% compared to the previous year). Rapeseed and mustard sowing covered 7.6 million hectares (8 million the previous year). Wheat sowing will continue until January, with the harvesting campaign beginning in March.
Turkey sold 150,000 tons of barley at a price of 225.6 USD/ton FOB for export between December 18, 2024, and January 13, 2025.
