- As of September 20, 2021, 25.3 million hectares of wheat have been harvested in Russia, 72.3 million tons of wheat have been harvested. 7.4 million hectares were harvested with barley and 17.8 million tons of barley have been harvested. 410,700 hectares were harvested with corn and 1.9 million tons of corn have been harvested. 2.1 million hectares were harvested with sunseed and 3.6 million tons of sunseed were harvested. The sowing of winter crops was carried out on 9.7 million hectares.
- In their September report, MARS lowered their forecast for the average corn yield in the EU in 2021 by 1.5% to 7.78 tons/hectare. The average spring barley yield was reduced to 4.23 tons/hectare. The average sunseed yield in the EU was lowered to 2.36 tons/hectare (-1.3%).
- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net sellers of 3,500 contracts of corn, 9,500 contracts of soybeans and 6,000 contracts of wheat.
- According to USDA data, as of September 19, 2021, 6% of the soybean areas and 10% of the corn areas have been harvested in the United States. 21% of the planned areas are sown with winter wheat.
- According to data from Safras & Mercado, as of September 17, 2021, 21.8% of the planned 4.38 million hectares (+5.1% for the week) have been sown with corn.
- In their September report, Oil World raised their forecast for the soybean production in South America for 2021/22 by 1.1 million tons to 207.3 million tons, which is 12 million tons more than 2020/21. The soybean production in Brazil is expected at 144.5 million tons (137.2 million tons in August and +7.3 million tons compared to 2020/21). The soybean production in Argentina is expected to reach a total of 46 - 47 million tons (43.8 in 2020/21). The soybean production in Paraguay is estimated at 10.7 million tons (9.3) and the soybean production in Uruguay is predicted at 2.56 million tons (2.06). The soybean production in the Northern Hemisphere will reach 166 million tons (+5.1), including:
- the United States - 119 million tons
- India - 9.8 million tons
- Ukraine - 3.28 million tons
- the EU - 2.87 million tons
- China - 15.6 million tons
- Canada - 5.9 million tons
The total world's soybean production will be 376.45 million tons (359.55 in the previous season) and ending soybean stocks are projected at 99.3 million tons (95.7).
- According to the USDA, the biofuel shift ratio in China reaches 2.1% for 2021, which is above the level of 2020, but well below the 2.8% achieved 10 years ago. Biodiesel production in China in 2021 is projected to reach 1.7 billion liters, which is 54% more than in 2020.
- Algeria has announced a tender for the purchase of 50,000 tons of durum with delivery in November. 200,000 tons of durum were purchased at the previous tender.
- Turkey bought 260,000 tons of barley at an average price of 304.79 USD/ton and delivery in October.
