- Over the week of January 17-23, 198,600 tons of wheat were exported from the Russian port of Novorossiysk, which is 15% less than the previous week. In the previous week, total grain exports totaled 329,100 tons, including wheat exports of 233,800 tons, corn exports of 59,800 tons and barley exports of 35,500 tons.
- According to Refinitiv, wheat exports from France reached 808,000 tons in December, which is less than in November due to declining demand from Algeria. The largest customers during the month were China with 508,000 tons and Morocco with 213,000 tons. Exports for Algeria were only 33,000 tons. In December, exports of malting barley reached 22,000 tons. Total grain export for the month reached 1.14 million tons.
- Wheat stocks in France could increase significantly to a 17-year high given tensions with Algeria. In recent weeks, Algeria has been buying wheat from the Black Sea region. Algeria usually imports about 40-50% of its wheat from France. As stocks rise, French wheat prices will be low, which will affect trade.
- On Friday, commodity funds in Chicago were net sellers of 6,000 contracts of soybeans and 5,500 contracts of wheat and net buyers of 6,500 contracts of corn.
- Over the week of January 7 - 13, the export sales of corn from the United States were 1.09 million tons. The largest customers were Japan with 370,900 tons, Mexico with 346,100 tons, Colombia with 86,700 tons, Saudi Arabia with 81,300 tons and China with 76,900 tons. Sales of wheat were 380,600 tons (+44% compared to the previous week) and sorghum sales reached 477,500 tons (highest for the season). Since the beginning of the season, export sales of corn reached 42.55 million tons (-9% compared to the previous season), including already exported 16.96 million tons. Export sales of wheat reached 16.53 million tons (-23%), including 11.69 million tons that have already been exported. Export sales of sorghum reach 5.81 million tons (+1%), including 1.89 million tons that have already been exported.
- Over the week of January 10-16, the export of cereals and oilseeds from Canada reached 495,300 tons (506,900 tons a week earlier). Exports of canola were 75,200 tons (122,300), soybean exports were 31,800 tons (135,400), durum exports were 11,200 tons (19,600), oat exports reached 12,000 tons (34,700), wheat exports were 304,300 tons (187,100), barley exports reached 16,100 tons (3,000). Since the beginning of the season, total exports have reached 16.4 tons (-38%).
- According to the forecast of Oil World, biodiesel production in Brazil will fall to the lowest level for the last 3 years of 5.5 - 5.6 million tons in 2022 (5.9 in 2021).
- Turkey is looking to buy 6,000 tons of sunseed oil with delivery within February 8-25.
- Turkey has purchased 345,000 tons of feed barley with delivery within 15.02 - 10.03.2022 and prices within the range of 316.00 - 331.80 USD/ton.
