- Over the week of February 16-22, the export tax on Russian wheat will be 92.8 USD/ton (93.2 weeks earlier). The export tax on barley will be 74.1 USD/ton (73.3). The export tax on corn will remain unchanged at 52.7 USD/ton.
- Strategie Grains has raised its forecast for the EU wheat production in 2022/23 by 0.3 million tons compared to the previous estimate to 128 million tons. The barley production is estimated at 51.9 million tons (+0.3) and corn production is expected at 66.8 million tons (+0.4).
- The Ministry of Agriculture of France lowered its estimate for the winter wheat areas in the country in 2022 to 4.75 million hectares (4.92 in the previous estimate and 4.96 in 2021). Barley areas will be 1.25 million hectares (1.23 and + 4.6%) and winter rapeseed areas will be 1.16 million hectares (1.1 and +18%).
- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net sellers of 5,500 contracts of corn, 9,000 contracts of soybeans and 8,000 contracts of wheat.
- Conab has lowered its forecast for the soybean production in Brazil in 2021/22 by 15 million tons compared to the previous estimate (140.7) to 125.4 million tons. Exports will be 80.1 million tons (86 in 2020/21). The estimate for the second corn production remains unchanged at 86 million tons (+ 42% compared to 2020/21). Brazil's soybean processing will reach 45.37 million tons (48.31) and ending stocks are projected at 2.65 million tons (5.3). Corn imports will be 1.7 million tons (0.4 in the previous estimate).
- Experts from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange have lowered their forecast for the corn production in 2021/22 in Argentina by 6 million tons compared to the previous estimate to a total of 51 million tons. As of February 10, 2022, 28% of the crops are in good and excellent condition, 47% in fair and 25% in poor and very bad condition.
- In 2021, private companies imported 6.9 million tons of wheat to Egypt (+11% compared to 2020). The state-owned company GACS delivered 4.7 million tons of wheat during the year (-32%).
