Grain Highlights 31.03.2022

Algeria has bought about 600,000 tons of wheat at an average price of 448 USD/ton C&F. Deliveries will mainly be from Romania and Bulgaria.

- From 15.04.2022 Russia will introduce a quota for the export of sunseed oil of 1.5 million tons and a quota for the export of sunseed meal of 0.7 million tons until 31.08.2022. From 01.04.2022 a ban on export of sunseed and rapeseed until 31.08.2022.

- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net buyers of 10,500 contracts of corn, 9,000 contracts of soybeans and 7,000 contracts of wheat.

- According to Anec data, 3.56 million tons of soybeans were prepared for export to Brazilian ports in the week of March 27 - April 2, 2022 (2.67 weeks earlier). In March, exports were 12.96 million tons (9.11 in February and 14.92 in March 2021). In the first three months of 2022, exports were 24.35 million tons (20.96).

- In 2022/23, soybean areas in Brazil will increase by 0.5% compared to 2021/22 to 40.7 million hectares. The soybean production is projected to reach 141 million tons.

- Turkey has purchased 18,000 tons of sunseed oil at prices within 1,896.90 - 1914.00 USD/ton C&F and delivery over 12.04 - 10.05.2022.

- On 31.03.2022 Tunisia held a tender for the purchase of 125,000 tons of soft wheat and 150,000 tons of feed barley. Wheat is priced at 454.96 - 457.96 USD/ton C&F (100,000 tons were purchased). Barley was priced at 442.68 USD/ton C&F and 25,000 tons were purchased.

- Jordan bought 60,000 tons of barley at a price of 395 USD/ton C&F and delivery in July.

- Saudi Arabia has announced a tender for the purchase of 355,000 tons of wheat with delivery within September - November.
