Grain Highlights 09.12.2022

The state company of Egypt GASC has purchased through direct negotiations 260,00 tons of Russian wheat with delivery within 25.12 - 28.02.2022 at an average price of 354 USD/ton C&F (361 on the previous purchase).

- Rusagrotrans predicts that in 2022/23 the export of wheat from Russia will reach a record 43.5 million tons. In October, grain exports reached 5.56 million tons (4.14 in October 2021), including wheat exports of 4.83 million tons (4.14). Exports in November reached a record of 5.74 million tons (3.62), including wheat exports of 4.77 million tons (3.62). In December, wheat exports are expected within 4.6 – 4.7 million tons (3.26 in December 2021).

- In November, 2 million tons of corn were exported from Ukraine (-0.3 compared to October). During the month, the export of grain was 5.9 million tons, which is 1 million tons less than in October and September, including 1.6 million tons of wheat (-0.4 compared to October). Sunseed oil exports were 466,000 tons (433,000), sunseed exports reached 377,000 tons, rapeseed exports were 412,000 tons (365,000) and barley exports totaled reached 100,000 tons.

- According to FranceAgriMer data, as of 12/05/2022, 97% of the winter soft wheat crops in France are in good and excellent condition (98% a week earlier and 99% a year earlier). 99% of the planned areas have been sown. 93% of the areas (+4% for the week) were sown with durum, and 98% of the crops are in good and excellent condition.

- According to the latest estimate of the European Commission, the sunseed production in the EU in 2022 is 9.3 million tons, which is 10% less than in 2021.

- According to Anec's forecast, 1.7 million tons of soybeans will be exported from Brazil in December, compared to over 2 million tons in November and 2.5 million tons in December 2021. Exports of soymeal will be 1.5 million tons - unchanged from November and December 2021. Corn exports will reach 5.4 million tons (5.9 and 3.3), and wheat exports are estimated at 658,700 tons (114,900 and 538,600).

- According to Conab, the production of all crops in Brazil will reach 312.2 million tons in 2022/23 (313.04 in the previous estimate and +15% compared to 2021/22). Soybean production is projected at 153.48 million tons (+22.2%) and corn production is expected at 125.83 million tons (+11.2%).

Since the beginning of 2022/23, GASC has purchased a total of 3.9 million tons of wheat, including 2.27 million tons of Russian wheat (share of 58% compared to 29% a year earlier).

- The sowing camapign of wheat in Pakistan has been completed on 83.11% of the planned areas. For the season, the production is expected to reach 28.37 million tons, which will satisfy the domestic needs of the country and there will be quantities available for export. 46.9 million hectares have been sown with wheat, and the target is 55.3 million hectares.
