Grain Highlights 23.02.2023

Authorities in France will limit the use of water to irrigate crops in some parts of the country. This is done for the first time since 1959.

- During this week, the Ukrainian government will offer Turkey and the UN an extension of the grain deal for at least one year. Until now, the agreements were for 120 days each.

- In 2022, agricultural production was exported from Ukraine for USD 6.3 billion (-23% compared to 2021). Production for the EU was exported for USD 3.376 billion (4.064), USD 1.237 billion for the countries of Asia, USD 421 million for Latin America and USD 242 million for Africa. Poland is the largest customer of Ukrainian production with USD 881 million, followed by Turkey with USD 538 million, Germany with USD 449 million, Italy with USD 391 million, the Netherlands with USD 267 million.

- Over the September-December period, 3.997 million tons of wheat were exported from Kazakhstan (2.98 a year earlier).

- Anec lowered its forecast for soybean exports from Brazil in February to 8.32 million tons (9.39 in the previous estimate, 9.11 in February 2022 and 944,380 tons in January 2023). A reduction of the indicator to 7.6 million tons is also possible.

- Turkey has announced a tender for the import of 440,000 tons of barley. A tender is also being held for the purchase of 790,000 tons of milling wheat.

- Iraq has announced a tender to import 200,000 tons of milling wheat from the United States, Australia and Canada.
