- In 2023/24, the largest buyer of Russian grain is Turkey, purchasing 8.9 million tons (down 30% compared to 2022/23). Egypt is in second place with 8.1 million tons (8.7), followed by Iran with 7 million tons (6.4), Saudi Arabia with 3.2 million tons (4.5), and Bangladesh with 3.8 million tons (1.6).
- During the week of July 1-7, 271,700 tons of wheat were exported from the Russian port of Novorossiysk, including 111,400 tons to Egypt (319,900 tons a year earlier).
- In the first week of the new season (July 1-8), Ukraine exported 832,000 tons of grain (698,000 last year), including 256,000 tons of wheat (212,000), 566,000 tons of corn (420,000), and 7,000 tons of barley (65,000).
- In 2024/25, Ukraine's soybean production will reach 5 million tons, a record for the country. The total oilseed production will be 22 million tons, including 13 million tons of sunflower seeds.
- As of July 1, the harvesting campaign of wheat in France was conducted on 1% of the area. The production is expected to be 11% below the average level for the past 10 years and the lowest since 2016. The forecast suggests the production will reach 29-30 million tons with rather poor grain quality.
- According to Anec, in June, Brazil exported 13.94 million tons of soybeans, the highest level since May 2023. In July, exports will reach 9.49 million tons. Corn exports in July will be 8.61 million tons.
- In May, Australia exported 1.59 million tons of wheat (1.85 million in April and 3.3 million in May 2023). The largest buyers were the Philippines with 314,800 tons, Indonesia with 244,100 tons, South Korea with 164,800 tons, and Yemen with 516,300 tons. In June, exports were below 1 million tons, the lowest level since November 2020.
- Since the beginning of April, Iranian authorities have purchased 6.3 million tons of wheat from local farmers to replenish the state reserve. A year earlier, purchases were 5.7 million tons.
- According to FAO's forecast, the world grain production in 2024 will be 2,854 million tons (+7.9 compared to 2023), including 1,530 million tons of feed grain and 789 million tons of wheat. Grain consumption will be 2,856 million tons (+5.4 compared to June and +13.6 compared to 2023/24).
