Oilseed stocks in Russian agricultural organizations have reached 6.7 million tons (-7% compared to the previous year). Sunseed stocks stand at 2.8 million tons (-22%). Grain stocks are at 31.1 million tons (-21%), including wheat stocks at 18.7 million tons (-25%) and corn stocks at 3.8 million tons (-4%). The sharpest decline in grain stocks has been observed in the Southern and North Caucasus Federal Districts.
During the week ending December 13, 2024, 271,400 tons of wheat were exported from Russia's Novorossiysk port (down from 566,800 tons the previous week), including 156,600 tons to Egypt, followed by Turkey, the UAE, and Libya.
From July 1 to December 16, 2024, Ukraine exported 19.51 million tons of grains (16.013 million tons during the same period last year), including 1.135 million tons in December (compared to 2.917 million tons last year). Exports included 9.207 million tons of wheat (6.723 million tons), 1.899 million tons of barley (0.946 million tons), and 8.084 million tons of corn (8.206 million tons). December 2024 exports lag significantly behind those of December 2023.
In 2024, Germany’s sunseed production totaled 134,200 tons, a 21% decrease compared to the previous year. The harvested area was 51,400 hectares (-25%).
Strong demand for rapeseed in the EU drove its price to 547 EUR/ton in Paris on Friday, the highest level since November 1, 2022. The price of canola in Canada was 434 USD/ton, down from the peak at the beginning of November despite reduced crop estimates. Ukrainian rapeseed prices at ports ranged from 530 to 535 USD/ton, reflecting the dwindling export potential.
U.S. lawmakers are increasing pressure on the Food Agency to halt imports of used cooking oil (UCO), which is utilized for biodiesel production and poses a threat to the incomes of soybean farmers. Serious concerns have been raised about the verification process for these imports.
In 2024, China’s grain harvest reached 706,500 tons (695,410 tons the previous year). The rice production was 207,500 tons (+0.5%), wheat production reached 140.1 million tons (+2.6%), corn production reached a record 294.92 million tons (+2.1%), and soybean production was 20.65 million tons (-0.9%).
On December 13, 2024, Saudi Arabia purchased 804,000 tons of milling wheat with 12.5% protein content (initially planned: 595,000 tons). Purchase prices ranged from 262.52 to 280 USD/ton, with deliveries scheduled for February-March 2025.
During July-August 2024, Morocco imported 1.5 million tons of wheat, primarily from France. By September, Russia had become the largest supplier. No imports from Argentina or France were recorded in September.
