In 2024, Russia exported 83.5 million tons of grain and grain products, a 4% increase compared to the previous year. Major clients included countries from the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The largest growth in purchases was observed in Vietnam, Nigeria, Morocco, and Sri Lanka.
According to APK-Inform, sunflower processing in Ukraine during December amounted to 1 million tons, a 17% decrease compared to November. This marks the lowest level for the month since 2014. In recent weeks, the price of sunseed oil has been declining, forcing factories to halt sunseed processing and shift to soybeans instead.
From September 1 to December 25, 2024, Kazakhstan exported 3.7 million tons of grain from the new crop, compared to 2.4 million tons during the same period the previous year. The largest clients were Uzbekistan with 1.427 million tons (up from 0.994 million), Tajikistan with 589,000 tons (up from 385,000), Afghanistan with 182,000 tons (up from 120,000), Kyrgyzstan with 72,000 tons (up from 59,000), and Iran with 435,000 tons (up from 14,000). In the first seven months of 2024, total exports reached 9.2 million tons.
During the week of December 7–13, ethanol production in the United States was 1.051 million barrels per day, a 2.57% increase compared to the previous year. Following record production and exports in 2024, even higher levels are anticipated in 2025.
According to a forecast by Safras & Mercado, corn production in Brazil is expected to reach 134.84 million tons in 2025, compared to 125.56 million tons in 2024. Corn exports are projected to rise to 43 million tons (from 37.891 million), imports to 1.7 million tons (from 1.4 million), and total consumption to 135.49 million tons (up from 126.28 million).
Over the next three years, India plans to expand its wheat storage capacity from 2.8 million tons to 9 million tons. Additionally, $15 billion will be invested in constructing warehouses for 70 million tons of grain over the next five years. The goal is to have sufficient capacity to store the entire annual grain production. The Food Corporation of India currently stores 40–50 million tons of wheat in its warehouses, in compliance with the National Food Security Act. Current storage facilities can accommodate only 47% of the total grain production.
