In 2024, Russia's oilseed crop production is expected to reach 30 million tons (compared to 29.95 million tons in 2023), including 15.9 million tons of sunseed, a record 7.8 million tons of soybeans, over 5 million tons of rapeseed, and other oilseeds.
Over 2 million hectares of wheat, corn, rapeseed, and sunseed in Romania have been affected by drought. About 40% of the crops have been destroyed. This is the fourth year in the last five with significant drought damage, with only 2021 being an exception.
From August 1st to 20th, Russia exported 4.235 million tons of grain (compared to 5.45 million tons in the same period last year), including 3.685 million tons of wheat (4.411), 419,000 tons of barley (870,000), and 130,000 tons of corn (167,000).
Yesterday, Egypt attempted to purchase 3.8 million tons of wheat, taking advantage of low prices on international markets. In the end, only 280,000 tons were purchased.
